Welcome to Disruptive Dialogue

Disruptive Dialogue is the companion podcast to my Pardon the Disruption blog.  This podcast will look at how technology innovation changes the way we communicate.  It will include news, commentary, and interviews.  The goal will be to keep each episode to about 30 minutes.

Until the podcast hits its stride, the release schedule will not be pre-determined.  The plan at the outset, however, is to be once a week. As the podcast matures, there will be regular segments that will be part of the regular schedule.  For instance, I'd like to try to have an interview each week if at all possible.  I believe that hearing not only from me but from other industry leaders and thought leaders will provide the maximum benefit to listeners.

I welcome listener comments and suggestions.  I don't have a comment line set up, so in the meantime feel free to leave comments here or email me your comments as an MP3.

You can expect that the Disruptive Dialogue podcast will cover important developments in PR and marketing communications as they are impacted by technology.  As someone with extensive experience on the PR and technology fronts, I will seek to achieve a balance between the two subjects.  The intersection of innovation and communication presents exciting opportunities for all of us in the field, but it also delivers challenges we must rise up to meet.

Some of the topics I hope to cover on the podcast include:

  • how social media requires greater transparency than traditional media
  • the impact of social networking on communications strategies
  • the patterns of message travel one sees in the blogosphere
  • reviews of the latest software and gadgets useful for communicating effectively
  • discussion of how to effectively monitor, measure, and analyze media coverage
  • interviews with entrepreneurs at technology or communications companies who are actively innovating in this area
  • talks with authors of books that deal with new media communications
  • coverage from conferences and other events
  • assessment of the impact of online communications on crisis communications planning and execution
  • exploration of how technology impacts one of the key targets of PR and marketing pros: the mainstream media
  • and much more

I hope that by mixing news of the day with deeper analysis and commentary Disruptive Dialgoue will be a valuable part of your listening repertoire.  Of course, it will only have that value if you share what you like and what could be improved.  And I need to hear your views, too.  Ultimately, the success of the podcast will depend on the community it taps into.

So, staty tuned for Episode #1 and let me know what you think!
